Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star interior offensive lineman DeAndre Carter will be back at USC for the Trojans spring game on April 15. He announced the news on Twitter.

Carter is the No. 118 overall prospect and No. 4 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 17 player in California.

The 6-foot-3.5, 340-pounder holds several notable Power Five offers and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has USC as the heavy favorite to land a commitment from Carter at 56.9%.

No other school has received as many visits from Carter as USC. He’s been to campus nine times already including once this spring on March 25.

“Today was a different type of visit,” Carter On3 following the last visit. “Got to see the business part of the school and got to talk to one of the top professors and found out how much more USC offers besides just football. I was amazed at how many alumni CEO’s there are that came from USC.

““Every time I go they seem to make it more special for me.”

Carter currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $94K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Carter commitment would be huge for Trojans’ momentum

Lincoln Riley and co. found plenty of success on the recruiting trail during the 2023 cycle signing 22 players and finishing with the No. 9 class in the country and No. 2 class in the Pac-12.

The Trojans’ 2023 class was headlined by a pair of five-star signees in top-five wide receiver Zachariah Branch and top-15 quarterback Malachi Nelson.

For as much success as they had in building the 2023 class, that hasn’t translated early on in the 2024 class. While they’re in the mix for several of the nation’s top prospects, USC only has one commitment so far.

Lake Oswego (Ore.) Lakeridge four-star tight end Joey Olsen announced his commitment to Lincoln Riley and the Trojans last September and remains their lone commitment.
