Eric Gentry reveals what separates him as inside linebacker
USC linebacker Eric Gentry is unique among inside linebackers. That much is obvious when you look at him because Gentry stands at 6-foot-6 and 205 pounds, he looks more like an edge rusher who needs to gain some weight. Even with that size, he is one of the most exciting linebackers in the country.
Eric Gentry knows that his size makes him unique. However, he doesn’t feel that his height is the only thing that separates him at linebacker. He explained his strengths to the media during Fall camp.
“See over the line,” Eric Gentry said. “Going to different passing lanes–disrupt a lot of passes. Get off blocks easily.”

Originally, Eric Gentry went to Arizona State in the Class of 2021. However, he is one of several former Sun Devils to transfer out of the program, which is how he ended up at USC.
Caleb Williams praised Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry has received plenty of praise at USC from people like defensive coordinator Alex Grinch and head coach Lincoln Riley. Recently, that praise has even come from star quarterback Caleb Williams, who has to compete against Gentry in practice.
“Yeah, he’s a big guy,” Caleb Williams said. “He’s got me here kinda recently. I didn’t think it was someone else. I didn’t know the personnel exactly up on defense, because they change so much in practice. So, I didn’t know. I didn’t necessarily key him on this certain play and he just reached up and grabbed it. He’s difficult to get the ball over and I’m glad we have him on our team.”
