5-star tackle Kadyn Proctor already hearing from Lincoln Riley, USC
Des Moines (Iowa) Southeast Polk offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor was one of Oklahoma‘s top targets in the 2023 class.
And just a few days after Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley bolted for USC, Proctor is already hearing from Riley and the Trojans.
“I’ve actually talked to Coach Riley already,” Proctor told WHO13 News in Des Moines. “He actually had a new California number and texted me from it, and I joked with him about the number.”
Proctor is the No. 6 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 1 offensive tackle and the No. 1 player in Iowa.
Riley and the staff he has assembled to this point have been busy on the recruiting trail since he was announced as USC’s coach on Monday. He has already flipped Five-Star Plus 2023 quarterback Malachi Nelson from the Sooners to the Trojans. And on Thursday, he flipped four-star 2022 wideout Raleek Brown.

Kadyn Proctor didn’t have USC in his top 12 schools
The 6-foot-6, 320-pound Proctor picked up an offer from the Trojans under USC’s previous staff. But he didn’t include them in his top 12 schools list that he released in September.
Among the schools on the list was Oklahoma, joined by Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Iowa State, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas and Texas A&M.
Proctor visited Notre Dame, Iowa and Iowa State this fall, and he’ll likely take more over the spring and summer. Whether Riley and the Trojans will get one of those will be determined in the coming months.
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power gave his take on Proctor recently:
“Wide, physically-developed offensive tackle who excels as a mauling run blocker. Dominant at the point of attack, using strong and quick hands to neutralize opposing defensive linemen. Plays with a nasty mentality as a block finisher, planting defensive linemen in the ground with regularity. Moves well and shows his athleticism as a defensive lineman. Does not appear to have high-end length for an offensive tackle and tends to lunge at times in his pass set.”
