USC legend LenDale White goes on NSFW social media rant following upset loss
Head coach Lincoln Riley found himself on the losing end of another bowl game but this time, was wearing different colors. USC dropped Monday’s Cotton Bowl to Tulane in dramatic fashion, with the Green Wave scoring a touchdown in the final seconds of the game.
Not everybody involved with the Trojans’ program is particularly happy with the result. Especially former running back LenDale White.
White sent out a string of tweets during and after the game, going on an NSFW social media rant. He was particularly critical of defensive coordinator Alex Grinch, calling the USC defense a “joke” but with some colorful language attached.
“Our defense and whoever’s a part of it is a f****ng joke,” White said in one tweet.
“That bend don’t break defense **** you brought from OU ain’t gonna cut it,” White said just under 30 minutes later.
Tulane was able to go for 539 total yards against USC, doing significant damage in the air and on the ground. Despite only completing eight passes, quarterback Michael Pratt threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns. The Green Wave went for 305 rushing yards, with running back Tyjae Spears having over 200 yards and four touchdowns.
A lot of bending for the Trojans and even more break.
When somebody was trying to reason with the former USC star, he was not ready to hear any excuses. Despite it only being Year One of the Riley era, White is looking for results.

When White was playing in Los Angeles, USC was the main storyline in the city. Winning national championships was the status quo under head coach Pete Carroll. White himself has two titles attached to his name, doing so in 2003 and 2004.
Riley had the opportunity to compete in the College Football Playoff this season, just needing a win against Utah in the Pac-12 championship. However, the Utes were able to take care of business in Las Vegas. Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams getting injured did not help the cause either.
The future is undoubtedly bright for USC, with Williams returning for another season. But sometimes, it’s a ‘what have you done for me lately’ mentality, especially for players who played for the program during a golden era.
White is frustrated with the Cotton Bowl result and was clearly expecting USC to win. Twitter is as good of a place to let your thoughts and feelings known.
