Former UCLA Bruins defensive back John Humphrey has found his new home in a familiar place for the 2024 season. Humphrey revealed on Thursday that he will remain in Los Angeles, CA, trading in his Bruins blue for the red of the USC Trojans after committing to play for them next year.

Not only will the senior defensive back remain in his home state of California and in the same city, but he will also be reunited with his former defensive coordinator, D’Anton Lynn. Shortly after the conclusion of the regular season, USC head coach Lincoln Riley and athletic director Jennifer Cohen successfully poached Lynn from their heated crosstown rivals, too.

Humphrey spent four seasons on the UCLA campus. In those four years, he played in a total of 54 games, recording 76 total tackles, 54 solo, five passes defended, and two interceptions. Three of Humphrey’s passes were defended, and both of his interceptions Kane during his impressive 2023 campaign.

Humphrey played high school football at John Muir High in Pasadena, CA, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 345 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
