Four-Star CB Braxton Myers commits to USC.

Four-star cornerback Braxton Myers of Coppell (TX) High announced his commitment to USC Monday evening.

The 6-foot-1, 190 pounder chose the Trojans over Clemson, LSU, Auburn, and others.

Myers discussed his decision to ultimately choose USC.

“I’ve always wanted to go to USC since middle school,” Myers said. “I was very close to Lincoln Riley and his staff during his time at OU. I know that coach Donte can get me where I want to be in life and succeed. The program is family based and all they want is to make their athletes better in life. I know coach Riley is going to bring USC back to where they used to be.”

The move from Texas to California is one Myers embraces

“I knew I wanted to leave Texas for the experience and to grow as a person,” Myers said. “Also my uncle lives in LA so I have family in California. I feel like the move is great because there are a lot of opportunities out there outside of football. What I like most is that USC is a big city so there really is not a change for me.”

Myers on what USC is getting in him

“A Cornerback that is hungry, also very versatile. I want to succeed in everything I do. Also a team player and want to win now!!”

Braxton Myers joins coach Riley and the Trojans’ No. 2 class in the On3 Consensus rankings, alongside five-stars Malachi Nelson, Zachariah Branch, and others.

He ranks as the No. 120 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally-weighted industry generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting services. The 2023 prospect also tabs in at the No. 11 corner and the No. 21 player in the state of Texas.

Braxton Myers Scouting Summary

Smooth defensive back with size and ball skills. Measured at 6-foot-0.5, 188 pounds prior to his junior season. Has plus length with a 6-foot-4 wing-span. Plays cornerback at the high school level, but has the versatility to play a few different spots in the secondary. Uses his length and coordination to locate and high-point the ball in contested situations. Shows the ability to get physical in coverage. Bodies smaller receivers on routes across the middle of the field. Embraces contact as a cover down defender working in the flats and against the run. Does not have positive verified athleticism in the combine or track settings. May best project at safety long-term due to his size, athleticism and overall skill set.
