4-star IOL Jason Zandamela commits to USC Trojans: 'It's an elite program'
At one point, Florida State was the leader for Clearwater (Fla.) Clearwater Academy International four-star interior offensive lineman Jason Zandamela. However, he soon realized that USC was the right place to continue his career on and off the field.
Zandamela built a close bond with offensive line coach Josh Henson and was impressed by the Trojans’ academic offerings during his official visit last weekend. On Tuesday, he announced his commitment to Lincoln Riley and the Trojans.
“He’s building a national championship class and team, especially this year,” Zandamela told On3 of Riley. “They have a great chance to get to the national championship and I feel like with this class, it’s just going to solidify them offensively and defensively. It’s an elite program. They already are an elite program.”
As soon as the two started talking, the second-year coach made an immediate impression on the No. 16 player in Florida.
Lincoln Riley is building buzz around the Trojans
“He’s very laid back,” Zandamela said. “He’ll hold you accountable, but he’s just a guy that if you pay attention at all times, you’re going to get the same treatment. He’s laid back and he can be hard on you, but that’s just part of developing as a player. I think he’s a very genuine person, as well. If you need someone to talk to, he’s there and I appreciate that.”
The 6-foot-3, 286-pounder has known for about a month that he would choose the Trojans, who beat out Florida State and Oklahoma. Following his official, he had a good feeling about USC and believes his personality fits what the program represents.
Zandamela is confident in how Riley is building the Trojans and believes the soon-to-be Big Ten program has a chance to do something special while he’s there.

“I’m just excited to go out there and work,” said Zandamela, the No. 98 overall prospect and No. 4 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. “I’m going to work hard to get into the starting lineup.”
USC checked boxes for Zandamela on and off the field
Zandamela has been building his connection with Henson since his unofficial visit to USC on April 8. The four-star speaks with him multiple times a week and they evaluate his film together. These experiences made him realize that he wanted to be coached by Henson on the college level.
In addition to being impressed with the Trojans’ offense, USC’s academics are another key reason why Zandamela is taking his talents to the Golden State.
“I met with the professors before, but last weekend showed me how prestigious the academics at USC are,” Zandamela said. “I want to be a part of that, for sure.”
