JuJu Watkins adds context to 'high emotion' Senior Day win vs. Illinois

The USC Trojans continue to dominate women’s college basketball. They’ve rolled along to a 25-2 overall record, including 15-1 in the Big Ten Conference, thanks in large part to one of the biggest stars in the women’s game today, JuJu Watkins. Watkins and Kiki Iriafen each poured in 22 points on Sunday against Illinois, as the Trojans stayed in first place of the Big Ten standings. They handled Illinois 76-66 in a pretty comfortable win.
Following the win on Senior Day, JuJu Watkins spoke with FS1 on the floor.
“I think it was just me staying in it the whole time. The emotions are high for Senior Day. The main thing for us is just staying poised throughout the whole game and then, getting to enjoy the ceremony after,” Watkins explained.
The superstar feels like the Trojans’ momentum is a good place as they ramp up their preparations for March Madness and the NCAA Tournament.
“I think we’re in a good place for sure. I mean, there’s definitely room. There’s always room for improvement. But you know, we are where we’re supposed to be. The goal is always to get better, so we’re taking it every day. Getting better. Knocking down each obstacle at a time,” Watkins finished.
