Atlanta (Ga.) Washington four-star EDGE Kameryn Fountain announced his commitment to USC on Monday. He chose the Trojans after taking an official visit to Los Angeles last weekend.

Fountain is the No. 146 overall prospect and No. 7 EDGE in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 25 player in Georgia.

“It’s a beautiful place out in California and I’ve talked to the entire coaching staff at USC,” Fountain told Scott Schrader of WeAreSC on May 9. “Coach (Lincoln) Riley told me I should come out and visit the campus, so that was really great. It was amazing talking to him.”

The 6-foot-5.5, 240-pound pass rusher chose USC over some of the top programs in college football. His decision elevated the Trojans’ 2024 recruiting class to No. 14 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. USC’s group, which is also No. 4 in the Big Ten, previously ranked No. 18.

Fountain is the second player to choose the Trojans today alongside Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra four-star cornerback Dakoda Fields. Both recruits were at USC for officials a few days ago.

USC is off to another strong recruiting start this cycle

Riley and Co. now have pledges from seven players: Fountain, Fields, Los Angeles (Calif.) Sierra Canyon four-star wide receiver Xavier Jordan, Lake Oswego (Ore.) Lakeridge four-star tight end Joey Olsen, Clearwater (Fla.) three-star safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr., McKinney (Texas) three-star running back Bryan Jackson and Engelwood (Colo.) Cherry Creek three-star interior offensive lineman Hayden Treter. Boatwright Jr. and Treter pledged to the Trojans yesterday, giving USC four commitments in the last two days.

“USC has a record of getting people to the league,” Jordan told On3’s Chad Simmons on May 1. “Jordan Addison just got drafted No. 23 in the first round to the Vikings. Before that, Lincoln Riley coached Ceedee Lamb. He has a record of getting receivers to the league.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Trojans are currently trending for another one of their top targets: Modesto (Calif.) Central Catholic four-star offensive tackle Manasse Itete. He was also at USC last weekend with Fountain and Fields.

“USC is coming hard,” Itete told On3’s Chad Simmons on May 23. “Over the last two months, USC has really come after me hard. Coach Zach Hanson was back at my school this week and he is very interested in me. Since they offered, USC has shown a lot of interest in me.”
