It’s almost uniform reveal time as the college football season is about to get underway. USC decided to spice things up by unveiling the pair of cleats the Trojans will wear this season in their first year under their new head coach, Lincoln Riley.

The USC football Twitter account showcased the new cleats, highlighted by a white Nike swoosh on the black cleats. The cleats also display the USC logo on the tongue.

The Trojans are preparing for their season opener on Saturday, Sept. 3 against the Rice Owls.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams is going into his second season under Lincoln Riley. Normally, that means giving a quarterback more responsibilities in an offense. Among the things that change is how communication works.

However, Caleb Williams and Lincoln Riley are in a unique situation. This is their second season together, but it’s their first at USC. Both came over from Oklahoma during the offseason.

While speaking to the media, Caleb Williams explained how communication has changed in his second season under Lincoln Riley.

“He has a lot more trust,” Caleb Williams explained. “He gives me a lot more flexibility. You know, sometimes, I even look over and he’ll give me the go-ahead, or we’re kind of communicating.”

“Me and my teammates were laughing about it. We kind of communicate really fast when I’m on the field and he’s on the sideline. Just, you know, thinking through plays and things like that. And, sometimes, I’ll call a play he likes it and he’ll give me the shoulders, which [I] know he means go ahead or give me a thumbs up, which means go ahead. So, it’s a lot more trust and a lot more flexibility.”
