Former Mississippi State playmaker Jo’Quavious “Woody” Marks has committed to USC after entering the Transfer Portal, he announced on Wednesday.

Marks did a little bit of everything for the Bulldogs during his four seasons in Starkville. He came in as a running back, and carrying the rock was his primary role, but Marks wore many hats. As a runner, though, he finished with just under 1,900 rush yards at MSU and topped out the last two seasons with totals of 582 yards and 573 yards on the ground.

Beyond those contributions, Woody was also a fearsome weapon in the passing game. In the earlier part of his career, you could practically consider Marks as much a receiver as he was a running back. Because in 2021, Marks was the second-leading pass catcher with 83 grabs for 502 yards and three touchdowns, finishing with 918 yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns. Plus, he even returned kicks that year, taking 11 returns for 231 total yards.

So Marks is a spark plug playmaker that USC coach Lincoln Riley can plug wherever he needs to within the offense. He won’t constantly make highlight reel plays, but the SEC veteran brings reliable and consistent production in a multitude of roles.

Before his time in college, Jo’Quavious Marks played high school football at Atlanta (Ga.) Carver, where he was a four-star prospect in the 2020 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also rated the No. 137 overall player and the No. 17 RB for his cycle.
