LOOK: Nebraska transfer defensive lineman Casey Rogers makes visit to USC
The USC Trojans are one of many schools vying for Nebraska transfer defensive lineman Casey Rogers, and had a chance to separate itself from the crowd this weekend. Rogers was in Los Angeles to visit the USC campus, and tweeted a photo of himself decked out in Trojans gear.
“Unbelievable visit to USC!!” he wrote in his tweet.
In addition to USC, Casey Rogers also holds offers from Arkansas, Auburn, TCU, Washington, Oregon State and Virginia. A three-star recruit in the class of 2018, he ranked as the No. 71 defensive lineman and No. 843 overall player according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Rogers redshirted his freshman season at Nebraska, and appeared in only four games the next year. His sophomore year in 2020, he appeared in every game, finishing with 24 tackles (three for loss) and a sack. He seemed primed to move into the starting lineup in 2021, but injuries caused him to miss the first five contests and derailed that hope. He still returned for the final seven games of the year, ending with 17 tackles (three for loss) and 0.5 sacks.

USC is coming off of a 4-8 finish this past season and entering the first year under coach Lincoln Riley. The Trojans have already made ample use of the NCAA Transfer Portal, bringing on 13 transfer players this offseason, That included three of the top 50 players according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings.
The Trojans struggled in many areas last year, but particularly on defense where they ranked 11th in the Pac-12 in points allowed and 10th in yards allowed per game. They have already added a few big names in attempt to rectify that this offseason, and Casey Thompson just might be the next up.
