Samford transfer power forward Jaden Brownell committed to USC and head coach Eric Musselman on Friday afternoon, he announced on Instagram. Brownell has one season of collegiate eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Brownell lands in Los Angeles following one season at Samford, where he averaged 14 points on 48.8% shooting and 38.2% from 3-point range, along with 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 assistant per game while starting all 27games for the Bulldogs in 2024-25.

Prior to that, Brownell spent three seasons at Illinois-Chicago, starting in seven of the 61 games he played in across the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Brownell averaged 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 2023-24 and 3.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in 2022-23.

Brownell is USC’s fourth commitment in the last week. The Trojans got transfer commitments from forwards Jacob Cofie from Virginia, Amarion Dickerson from Robert Morris and Keonte Jones from Cal State-Northridge on April 5.

Cofie, a 6-foot-10 native of Seattle, started 16 of the 32 games he appeared in as a freshman in 2024-25. He averaged 7.2 points on 49.5% shooting while adding 4.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1 assist per game last season.

Jones averaged 13.1 points, 9 rebounds and 4.1 assists last season for Cal State-Northridge, shooting bettern than 50% from the field. That included a double-double 17-point, 10-rebound effort against USC on December 18, 2024.

A former JUCO prospect, Dickerson turned heads at Robert Morris this past season, where he averaged 13.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He also shot 52.9% from the floor and 27% from three-point range.
