Top-100 tight end Walker Lyons visiting USC today
Folsom (Calif.) High School tight end Walker Lyons named USC among his top six schools in February. And he’ll be on campus to see the Trojans both today and tomorrow, he announced on Twitter.
Lyons is the No. 89 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 5 tight end and the No. 8 junior prospect in California.
Along with the Trojans, the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder named Alabama, Utah, Ohio State, BYU, and Stanford as his other finalists. He visited the Utes in January and is scheduled to see the Crimson Tide next weekend for his second unofficial visit.
This weekend’s trip to Los Angeles will be his first since USC hired Lincoln Riley away from Oklahoma, which Lyons said made a significant impact in his mind about the Trojans.

“With the addition of Coach (Lincoln) Riley, USC is going to be a national powerhouse,” Lyons told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “It intrigues me to want to be a part of that.”
He is one of 10 tight end prospects the Trojans have offered in the 2023 cycle, a list that also includes the No. 1 player at the position, Duce Robinson. USC is considered a slight favorite to land Robinson over both Georgia and Clemson, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
As for Walker Lyons, the RPM has USC and Alabama out slightly ahead of the pack. The Trojans currently have the No. 1 overall class in the 2023 cycle, with commitments from Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Malachi Nelson, five-star receiver Zachariah Branch and four-star wideout Makai Lemon.
