Travis Dye reveals what it felt like running out of the tunnel at USC for the first time

When Lincoln Riley landed at USC, it quickly became clear that he was going to rebuild the program through the use of transfer players. One of those transfers was running back Travis Dye. Formerly of the Oregon Ducks, Dye brings both talent and veteran leadership to the USC backfield.

While speaking to the media, Travis Dye was asked about coming out of the tunnel and onto the field for the first time as a USC Trojan.

“It was a great experience,” said Travis Dye. “You know, there’s what, 60-something thousand fans out there?”

“That’s about as many as Autzen can hold. So, it was very, it was a nice atmosphere, it was super fun, it was a great experience to come out the tunnel and get cheers.”

USC’s first game came against Rice. During that game, Travis Dye had five carries for 20 yards. Last season, at Oregon, he had 211 carries for 1,271 yards and 16 touchdowns. The fifth-year senior is expected to be a major contributor to USC’s offense moving forward.

Travis Dye on adjusting to the USC locker room

This offseason, Travis Dye was one of several players who had to get adjusted to being at USC. That can be difficult for players who are used to doing things a certain at their previous school. Add in finding chemistry with your new teammates, and it can be difficult to adjust.

“I’ll guess with any team it’s with the workouts and everything you do with the football because this stuff is hard, it’s not easy so you glue together with the guys. But there’s something different about this team and these guys, it was so much quicker and so much better than any other group I’ve been a part of,” Travis Dye said.
