Tre White, a 6-foot-6 small forward out of Dallas (Texas) Prolific Prep has committed to USC basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.

White is the Trojans’ fourth commitment of the class. He joins Vince Iwuchukwu, Kijani Wright, and Oziyah Sellers. USC has now landed three top-100 prospects.

White, the No. 76 overall prospect in the On3 100, chose the USC Trojans over scholarship offers from LSU, Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma State, among others. White also drew interest from the NBL, although they have not commented on the situation.

Tre White breaks down his decison to USC

“I had a great connection with the coaches,” White said. “At the end of the day, you gotta go where you’re wanted, and that’s how I feel. The coaches really want me there…the whole staff. They broke down the film of my game and how they see me playing for them. The visions match up and they push their guys to the League.”

How does USC plan on utilizing White?

“Really as an elite two-guard,” White said. “Versatility, catch and shoot, attacking, coming off screens, making reads, just letting me flourish.”

What does White expect his role to be as a freshman?

“Definitely a big impact,” White said. “The pieces around me that the team has…incoming guys like Kijani Wright, Vincent (Iwuchukwu)…I feel like that could be another tournament team. I feel like we could definitely go far. So I feel like me being the leader on the team, lead guard, coming in and just taking it as far as we can.”

How did NIL have an impact on the decision?

White also tightly considered the NBL, the professional option in Australia. White’s former high school teammate, RJ Hampton, chose the NBL over college a few years back.

“NIL definitely played a big part,” White said. “When people think NBL, they think Australia, they think like ‘oh he can get paid.’ But with NIL stuff here with USC, it’s in Los Angeles, what other market do you want? I feel like that market with NIL…you can’t really beat it.”

What’s White most excited about?

“Just watching myself kind of grow up and go into different parts of my life,” White said. “You know from a little kid, middle school, and now high school. That’s the most exciting part, just watching myself mature and grow. I’m also ready to shock the world. They’re going to be really shocked when they see me on the draft boards go real high.”
