USC forward Vince Iwuchukwu enters the NCAA Transfer Portal
USC forward Vince Iwuchukwu has entered his name into the transfer portal.
Iwuchukwu spent the past two seasons with the Trojans. He appeared in 45 games over that time in Los Angeles, including 16 starts. In those games, Iwuchukwu averaged 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 50.6% from the field in 15 minutes a contest.
Iwuchukwu’s collegiate career got off to a scary start as he suffered an episode of cardiac arrest in the summer before the start of his freshman season. That caused him to miss the first 16 games of that year before making his debut in mid-January. He then missed the final three games of the year with a sore back before entering the offseason by undergoing a lumbar discectomy.
Iwuchukwu, a native of San Antontio, played high school basketball at Southern California Academy. He was a four-star prospect there as the No. 30 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He finished rated as the No. 4 C in the class and the No. 5 player out of California.
Iwuchukwu then enrolled at USC as part of the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation. That’s per On3’s 2022 Team Recruiting Rankings.
Amidst the shift in the Trojans’ program this offseason, Iwuchukwu is now the fifth transfer to leave since the start of the cycle. Kijani Wright and Oziyah Sellers, two other members of Iwuchukwu’s class, have already entered the portal while Kobe Johnson has both entered and already committed to UCLA. Bronny James also has the intention of transferring from the team after his announcement earlier on Friday.

This comes after Andy Enfield left to take the head coaching job at SMU. USC has since hired Eric Musselman, formerly of Arkansas, as their next leader.
As for portal additions, the Trojans got a commitment from UMass’ Josh Cohen after Musselman’s hiring on Thursday. Cohen was already committed to Musselman at Arkansas earlier in the portal cycle.
