USC OL Emmanuel Pregnon enters NCAA Transfer Portal

USC offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Pregnon spent two seasons at USC after beginning his collegiate career at Wyoming.

Pregnon played in all 13 of the Trojans’ games this season. He finished with USC’s highest PFF overall grade on offense and as a pass blocker. For his efforts, he was named a 2024 All-Big Ten Second Team selection.

Pregnon’s decision may come as a surprise to USC fans. On Dec. 18, new USC offensive line coach Zach Hanson announced Pregnon would be returning next season.

“Excited to have him back,” Hanson said of Pregnon. “Made tremendous strides this last year. Looking for him to do the same this upcoming year and get that NFL Draft grade up, and hopefully go get drafted high in the draft next year.”

Now, it appears that Pregnon will be playing another year of college ball but not necessarily at USC. The 6-foot-5, 320-pound standout transferred to USC ahead of the 2023 season. In his first year with the Trojans, he logged 13 appearances, including 12 starts.

Before joining USC, Pregnon spent three years at Wyoming. In his first two seasons with the Cowboys, Pregnon saw no action. However, Pregnon started in 11 games for Wyoming in 2022, only allowing two sacks. He ultimately graded out as the No. 3 guard in the Mountain West, according to PFF.

Emmanuel Pregnon played high school football at Thomas Jefferson (CO), where he was an unranked prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Pregnon’s decision is only the latest blow to USC’s offensive line. The team is also set to lose starting center Jonah Monheim to the NFL draft and starting right tackle Mason Murphy to the transfer portal. With only two starting offensive linemen expected to return next season, USC will have plenty of roster holes to fill this offseason.

The transfer portal officially opened on Dec. 7 and closed on Dec. 28, though players on teams still playing in the postseason will get an additional five-day window to enter the portal after their seasons end.
