The Caleb Williams era at USC might be coming to an end, but the Miller Moss dynasty starts now. In Wednesday night’s DIRECTV Holiday Bowl, the Trojans’ young and talented sophomore quarterback put together a performance to remember, leading the Trojans to a 42-28 win. Moss would set a new Holiday Bowl record for most touchdowns thrown in the game with six.

Following the game, the Fox Sports broadcasting crew caught up with the newest USC star quarterback to see if he could put his feelings following the historic performance into words and also to gauge his perspective on what his performance means for Trojans football in the future.

I can’t really describe it; I’m trying to pinch myself right now,” said Moss. “But I’m just really, really happy for this team. The work we put in, in the last six weeks, the way we came together; I’m really, really happy with how we finished. We finished on a good note after all the adversity this year. I’m really proud of these guys.

“I don’t think it’s as much about me as it is about the team. The emphasis was really coming together as a team: no ego, no individual. It’s all about us as a team, bonding together, and that’s what we’re gonna focus on going forward.

After a lights-out performance in the first half, mass continued to torch the Louisville Cardinals’ defense with big play after big play. The children’s quarterback finished the game, completing 23-33 of his past attempts for 372 yards and one interception to go along with his record-setting six touchdown passes.

Moss’s favorite target on the night was wide receiver Tahj Washington, who joined him in the postgame interview. The Cardinals’ defense had little to no answer for Washington, who finished the game with seven catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns.

Moss’s huge first half

USC led Louisville at the half 28-14 thanks to the stellar play of the Trojans’ sophomore quarterback. Through the first half, Moss has completed 13-18 pass attempts for 218 yards and four passing touchdowns. Surprisingly, the talented young USC quarterback also leads the team in rushing yards, as he’s been credited with two carries for 13 yards.

Moss’s performance in the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl will likey now be looked at as an indication of what the Trojans can expect out of him in the future. The program appears to be in great hands as they move conferences in 2024, leaving the Pac-12 behind to face the challenges of the Big Ten conference.
