USC safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr. enters NCAA transfer portal

USC safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr. has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He spent the past two seasons with the Trojans but did not record any stats.

Boatwright played high school football at Clearwater (FL), where he was a three-star recruit. He ranked as the No. 618 overall player and No. 60 safety in the 2023 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Boatwright is the 26th overall player and the second safety that USC has lost to the portal, joining Zion Branch. The Trojans have also added 13 players and rank No. 62 in On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.

USC is coming off of a a 7-6 finish in its third season under coach Lincoln Riley. Now as it aims to bounce back and compete in the Big Ten, it will be down a player who was part of one of his first recruiting classes in 2023.

The spring transfer portal opened Wednesday, April 16 and will close 10 days later on Friday, April 25. As of this writing, more than 430 FBS scholarship players have entered the transfer portal this month and 3,600 players have entered in the 2024-25 portal.

Notre Dame safety transfer Kennedy Urlacher commits to USC

Former Notre Dame safety transfer Kennedy Urlacher, the son of legendary Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, has committed to join USC and head coach Lincoln Rileyaccording to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Urlacher will have three years of eligibility remaining after contributing as a freshman during the Fighting Irish’s 2024 run to College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Kennedy Urlacher formally entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Wednesday, the first day of the Spring portal window, after spending just one season with the Fighting Irish. He appeared in 14 games as a true freshman at Notre Dame, and finished with 12 tackles, including seven solo, while playing mostly on speical teams.

Kennedy Urlacher played high school football at Chandler (AZ), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 707 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
