USC to honor Caleb Williams' career at Notre Dame game
USC is set to honor Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams during its game against Notre Dame on Nov. 30.
Williams played for the Trojans during the 2022 and 2023 season, winning the prestigeous prize after the 2022 season. He was then selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.
Williams put together an impressive college career, starting at Oklahoma in 2021 and finishing with two years at USC. His biggest season came as a sophomore in 2022 when he threw for 4,537 yards, ran for 382 yards and totaled 50 touchdowns – 40 in the air and 10 on the ground. That helped him bring home the Heisman Trophy.
After winnin the award in 2022, he wasn’t able to see the same type of success in 2023. Still, his numbers were still impressive. He threw for 3,633 passing yards and 30 touchdowns to go with 11 rushing scores. USC had an up-and-down year en route to a 7-5 record as the defense struggled, but Williams’ draft stock didn’t change. He appears to be taking to the professional ranks just fine midway through his rookie campaign.

Coming off a tough loss in Week 11 to the Green Bay Packers, Williams has the Bears at 4-6 overall. He’s thrown nine touchdown passes compared to five interceptions with 2,016 passing yards to show for it. Still, after a 4-2 start Chicago has dropping its last four games dating back to Oct. 27.
The Chicago Bears will play the Thursday night before the Trojans honor him, matching up against the 9-1 Lions in Detroit. They have a tough stretch of games coming up as well, as every opponent they have for the rest of the season has a record at .500 or better.
Before college, Williams was a five-star recruit and the No. 7 overall player from the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
