USC’s star junior receiver Jordan Addison is finally getting an opportunity to show his skills off for the Trojans at fall camp, after joining the team mid-way through the offseason. After USC’s first scrimmage, head coach Lincoln Riley admittedly was impressed with his offseason acquisition’s playmaking ability and skillset. Recently during a presser after practice, Addison offered a confident take on his abilities and what he brings to the team.

“Just going back and looking at what I did good and improving on that. And the plays that I left out there, I’m going to make sure that I make those plays (next time),” said Addison. “So, just making sure I make every play I’m supposed to and every play that I’m not supposed to make, I’m going to make that too.

“Well, the receiver room is pretty deep, as you all know. Everybody is pretty talented. But my skill set, I’m not sure how to explain; I just know that I bring a different piece to the puzzle.”

Addison had 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns before entering the portal just ahead of the May 1 deadline. At USC with Caleb Williams, he has the opportunity to shine at blue blood program and move even further up the draft board.

Looking ahead to the 2023 NFL Draft, new USC Trojans offensive weapon Jordan Addison has already established himself as a likely first-rounder.

In PFF’s way-too-early 2023 mock draft, they have the new Trojan coming off the board at No. 21 overall.

Riley addresses fitting Jordan Addison into the offense, role

USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley brought arguably the most potent combination of transfer players in America to Southern California: quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Jordan Addison. While Williams naturally followed Riley to Pasadena from Oklahoma, Addison — the reigning Biletnikoff award winner, given to the top receiver in college football — was arguably the splashier add as the Trojans lured him away from reigning ACC champions Pittsburgh.

Now that the Trojans have hit fall camp, Riley is starting to get a clearer picture of how, exactly, Addison will fit into the offense. No matter what, though, Addison’s versatility and team-first nature have put him in high esteem with Riley. One way or another, they’re going to center Addison in their passing attack.

“I think your best players, you’re always going to tailor it to those guys and try to do things to fit them,” Riley said. “So, yeah, there’s no question that he absolutely impacts how we’ll play offense. There’s absolutely zero doubt about that. He’s doing very well, I’d say we’re still learning him. We’ve still only had, today was 10, so we’ve only had 10 practices with him. So we’re still figuring out him, his intricacies and how he fits. But he’s a very consistent worker and certainly is a playmaker. There’s been a lot of newcomers. Several offensively. It’ll make you really think about all the possibilities. It’s exciting because there are some guys who are pretty dynamic.”
