Drake London gives update on his health before NFL Combine
Heading into the 2022 NFL Draft, one of the best wide receivers available for teams to select in the first round comes out of USC. Drake London is one every draft analyst has near the top of the board, with the former Trojan expected to be take early on night one in late April.
On Wednesday, London gave an update on his health during his NFL Combine press conference. The USC wide receiver said he will only be participating in interviews this week and not working out. He is still recovering from a fractured ankle that cut his final season in Los Angeles short.
Furthermore, London said he is at about 85%, still being in the process of recovering.
London was only able to play in eight games this year for the Trojans, suffering his injury just before Halloween against the Arizona Wildcats. The wide receiver ended the 2021 season with 88 receptions for 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns. His best performance came against Washington State on Sept. 18, where London caught 13 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the blowout win.
Whoever does end up taking London will be ending up with an elite talent at wide receiver and possibly an instant impact player. However, not working out at the combine shows his health could be a concern heading into the 2022 season.

London Drake one of two wide receivers linked with the Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are heading into the 2022 NFL Draft with a clear-cut need for wide receivers, and with three first-round selections this year, NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah expects them to select a wideout, particularly either USC Trojans wide receiver Drake London or Ohio State product Garrett Wilson.
The Eagles have a history of selecting first-round wide receivers in recent years, but even with these highly-touted receivers coming into Philadelphia, the Eagles have struggled to produce in the passing game. Early indications say they appeared to have taken a stud in one of those drafts, with Alabama product DeVonta Smith putting together a nice rookie year, but Jalen Reagor tells a much different story, as the TCU product has struggled to produce and live up to expectations. With that, Jeremiah says London or Wilson may be a good fit with the Eagles.
“I would love Garrett Wilson (of Ohio State) in there. I think he’s the best receiver in the draft, in my opinion. He can do everything. He is a complete wide receiver,” Jeremiah said. “From just a pure size, skill set standpoint, you’d say Drake London (of USC) would be the power forward they don’t necessarily have there opposite of DeVonta. I think he’s exceptional.”
