4-star WR Xavier Jordan commits to USC Trojans: 'It's probably the best decision I've ever made'
Los Angeles (Calif.) Sierra Canyon four-star wide receiver Xavier Jordan received an offer from USC on Jan. 30. He had interest in California, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon and Washington among others, but quickly felt like a priority to the Trojans.
USC head coach Lincoln Riley and outside wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons were in constant contact with Jordan, who took an unofficial visit to Los Angeles on April 8. A little more than three weeks after that trip, he announced his commitment to the Trojans.
“I’m not going to lie, it’s probably the best decision I’ve ever made,” Jordan told On3. “I love USC already.”
Oregon was Jordan’s dream school, but how USC recruited him set the Trojans apart from the Ducks and more programs. USC’s development of wideouts, coaching staff and close distance to his home are a few reasons why he chose to wear the cardinal-and-gold.
Riley and Co. were not only willing to speak with Jordan every day, but also his mother. They both eventually realized that he would flourish in Riley’s offensive system and on USC’s campus.
“I’m comfortable there,” said Jordan, the No. 72 overall prospect and No. 11 wide receiver in the 2024 On300. “I could suit up tomorrow and it would be nothing new to me.”
Jordan knows he can develop and learn from USC’s coaches
According to Jordan, he is excited to play for a successful head coach in Riley. He believes that USC’s head man can help him succeed in college football and reach the NFL.

“USC has a record of getting people to the league,” Jordan said. “Jordan Addison just got drafted No. 23 in the first round to the Vikings. Before that, Lincoln Riley coached Ceedee Lamb. He has a record of getting receivers to the league.”
The 6-foot-0, 160-pound wideout is also looking forward to being mentored and developed by Simmons. Their connection is strong on and off the field, and Jordan believes he is one of the “coolest” USC coaches.
In addition to Riley and Simmons, Jordan has built bonds with various Trojans staffers. During his recent visit to USC, he caught up with defensive backs coach Donte Williams, who served as USC’s interim head coach before Riley was hired.
“I was on the defensive sideline during one of the spring practices and they were showing me love like I was going there as a cornerback,” Jordan said. “They know my name there.”
