In April, USF flipped away St. Augustine (Fla.) High quarterback Locklan Hewlett from Wake Forest, and on Saturday, the Bulls landed another prospect who was formerly committed to the ACC school.

Baltimore St. Frances Academy’s Jeremiah Koger, a three-star prospect and No. 37 prospect from Maryland per On3, announced his decommitment from Wake Forest Wednesday. He completed the flip by making it public that he’ll take his talents down to Tampa to play for Alex Golesh and the Bulls.

Koger earned a scholarship offer from USF April 18, and took an official visit to campus June 18-20, per sources. The Bulls were in the driver’s seat for him after a tremendous visit, and position coach L’Damian Washington and Co. pulled off the big flip.

Maryland, N.C. State, UCF, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Boston College were among the other scholarship offers for the 6-1, 190-pounder.

Koger had a strong junior campaign at St. Frances Academy, catching 36 passes for 631 yards with 10 touchdowns on his way to being named an All-Metro second team performer. As a 10th grader, Koger recorded an 11.35 in the 100-meter race.

USF has been on a major hot streak on the recruiting trail. Entering last weekend, the Bulls had just 12 commitments in the cycle, and with Koger in the fold, Golesh and Co. are up to 22, which is tied for fifth-most in the country.

Koger is USF’s third receiver commit of the 2025 cycle, joining Perry (Ga.) High’s Kory Pettigrew and Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley’s Koredell Bartley. USF’s class ranks as the top group in the American Athletic Conference.

Details on two other recent commits for the Bulls

USF’s highest-ranked commitment in the class is now Lakeland (Fla.) High’s Jermichael Gillis, who checks in as the No. 432 overall player and No. 38 safety in America per the On3 Industry Ranking. Gillis, who announced his pledge to the Bulls June 24, had a tremendous sophomore year, earning offers from USC, Wisconsin, Michigan, LSU, Miami, Penn State and others.

Gillis’ recruitment cooled down a bit due to him suffering an injury as a junior, but it heated back up with him showing off his skills during the spring evaluation period and added a couple new offers, which included N.C. State. Sources tell On3 that Gillis surprised USF with his commitment, and the staff was excited to take it. Gillis is expected to have a big senior season and should be considered one of the most talented prospects in USF’s class, if not the most talented recruit.

The Bulls landed a top cornerback target June 24 when Miami Northwestern’s Tywan Cox, a three-star prospect, pledged to USF. He was a part of the June 14-16 official visit weekend at USF and joined the commitment party this past Monday. There’s been news in the past week with an FAU staffer getting into Twitter beef with a USF staffer, and interestingly enough, those were the two programs Cox was down to. USF got the better of the Owls on this front.

Landing Cox is a big win for USF and cornerbacks coach DeMarcus Van Dyke. The 5-11, 170-pounder also held offers from Miami, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, SMU and Pittsburgh.
