USF football recruiting intel: Bulls hosted two major events in recent weeks

The South Florida Bulls’ 2025 high school recruiting class is wrapped up, and Alex Golesh and Co. are already working on the 2026 cycle.
During the January recruiting period, the staff hit the road to see prospects during the week, and on Jan. 18 and Feb. 1, the staff hosted crucial prospects on campus. During these visits, the high school recruits tour campus, eat plenty of food, sit in on various meetings and of course, spend extended time with the Bulls’ coaching staff.
In this USF football recruiting intel article, On3’s Mike Singer gives the latest on the Bulls’ efforts in the 2026 class with a focus on the prospects who visited campus in the past few weeks.
The Bulls have offered a handful of quarterbacks already in the 2026 cycle, and one player emerged on the board in the past week. Seffner (Fla.) Armwood signal-caller Rhys Brush, a 6-2, 175-pounder who holds offers from Old Dominion, Troy, Western Michigan, Yale, Arkansas State and a couple others, visited USF Feb. 1 and earned his offer from the Bulls a few days later. Brush will be a key name to know for quarterback recruiting moving forward.
USF has a running back pledge already in the 2026 cycle, coming from Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes’ Qwantavius Wiggins. He made it to Tampa Jan. 18, as well as local back Javari Barnett out of Tampa (Fla.) Bay Tech. Miami, Texas A&M and USC are among the offers for Barnett, an On3 four-star prospect. Community School of Naples (Fla.) ball carrier Jayvian Tanelus, another notable target, made it to USF recently as well.
The Bulls had a huge offensive line recruiting day Feb. 1 with several targets on campus. Washington (D.C.) St. John’s College interior lineman Jordan Harrison was one of them, and he committed to the Bulls over offers from Maryland, West Virginia, Syracuse, Boston College and others on Friday.
The Bulls offered and hosted Douglasville (Ga.) South Paulding offensive tackle Tyler Chukuyem on that day, and also had Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cypress Bay’s Ben Gula, Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County’s Julius Dumas and Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes’ Benjamin Corhei in town. The latter three prospects all hold big-time power conference scholarship offers.
USF had coveted interior defensive linemen and pass rushers on campus in recent weeks. Fleming Island (Fla.) EDGE Jarius Rodgers, a four-star prospect who ranks as the No. 258 player and No. 25 EDGE in America per the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, was in Tampa Jan. 18 but committed to Syracuse nine days later. It would be a surprise if USF stopped recruiting Rodgers, who is a top overall target for Golesh and Co. in the 2026 class.

Bulls’ EDGE commit Dematrius Geathers from Boca Raton (Fla.) West Boca Raton made it back to his future school Feb. 1. Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola interior defensive lineman Amier Clarke earned an offer from the Bulls while on campus Jan. 18.
The Bulls hosted impressive in-state linebacker prospects, including Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater’s Justin Edwards, Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland’s Dennis King and Ponte Vedra Beach (Fla.) Nease’s Jacob Curry. USF has yet to offer Curry, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he landed one in the near future.
USF had several key defensive backs on targets, including local two-way star DJ Williams from Carrollwood Day in Tampa. The cornerback prospect has Miami, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Florida State and others on his offer sheet and regularly visits USF. Another prospect who checks out USF regularly and is armed with big-time offers is Tarpon Springs (Fla.) High’s CJ Cresser, a Rivals three-star cornerback.
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star safety Amari Jones, who is being targeted by Auburn, Tennessee, Penn State and others, was at USF Feb. 1.
Clearwater (Fla.) High’s Kentrail McRae, Riverview (Fla.) Sumner’s Jamareis Conyers and Seffner (Fla.) Armwood’s D’Montae Tims were the other USF defensive back targets in the 2026 class on campus in the past couple weeks.
