USF football flips 2025 LB recruit Gavin Leach from Toledo
The University of South Florida Bulls have flipped another prospect from the Toledo Rockets.
For the past couple months, Alex Golesh‘s program has been after Newburgh (Ind.) Castle class of 2025 linebacker Gavin Leach, and the three-star prospect has announced he switched his pledge from the MAC program to AAC school Saturday afternoon.
USF started recruiting the 6-2, 200-pounder at the start of the 2024 football season and formally announced his scholarship offer Sept. 22. He committed to the Rockets back in April but had Washington State and Cincinnati dish out offers to him as well.
The Bulls hosted Leach for an official visit during their bye week at the end of October, and it was enough for Golesh and Co. to pull off the flip.
Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban tight end Tayte Crable is the other prospect who flipped from Toledo to USF this fall. He announced his Bulls’ commitment Oct. 23.
Late in the summer, USF did a reset of sorts on their linebacker board, making a national search on prospects at the position. And Leach was the prospect the staff zeroed in on and targeted hard.

On3, 247 Sports and ESPN rank Leach as a three-star prospect. ESPN is highest on him, listing him as the No. 62 linebacker prospect nationally and No. 28 recruit in Indiana.
In nine games of his senior season, Leach has already posted 100 tackles (10 for loss), 1 sack, 1 interception and 3 forced fumbles.
USF now has No. 25 commitments in the 2025 class, a group that ranks No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference.
Leach is USF’s second linebacker commitment in the class, joining Washington (D.C.) St. John’s DeAngelo Bowden.
