USF flips in-state CB Gavin Jenkins from Toledo

Alex Golesh and the University of South Florida Bulls have been hot on the recruiting trail and just added a quality prospect to their 2025 class.
On Monday night, the Bulls flipped Lake Butler (Fla.) Union County three-star cornerback Gavin Jenkins away from his Toledo commitment.
“USF is a special place to me,” Jenkins told On3 before making his decision public. “I have a great relationship with the coaches and players. I’ve had a connection with Coach DVD (DeMarcus Van Dyke) and Coach Golesh since last year. I love their coaching approach.”
Jenkins added USF to his offer sheet back in January and had the Bulls on his final eight schools list that he posted in April. West Virginia, East Carolina, UCF, Coastal Carolina, Memphis, Toledo and Western Michigan were also included in that top group, and Jenkins had Michigan State, Houston Iowa State, Tulane and a few others on his offer sheet throughout his recruiting process.
He officially visited Toledo in June and announced his pledge to the Rockets after returning home from his trip. However, the Bulls remained a contender for him.
USF hosted Jenkins for an official visit this past weekend, and early into the trip, he informed the staff that he would be flipping his pledge.
“I had a great time despite the loss,” said Jenkins. “The highlights of the trip were seeing my mom smiling and eating with the coaches and staff.”

Jenkins is fired up about his decision to continue his career as a student-athlete in the Sunshine State.
“I really love the idea of staying in Florida,” he said. “I’m excited play under Coach Golesh and Coach DVD.”
Jenkins ranks as the No. 102 overall cornerback in America according to On3.
The Bulls are up to 24 commitments in the 2025 class. USF previously had two cornerback commitments, but they switched their respective pledges to other programs. Jenkins is the lone cornerback pledge of the class currently.
Jenkins is the third prospect USF has flipped from Toledo in the 2025 class. The others were linebacker Gavin Leach from Indiana and tight end Tayte Crable from Ohio.
