After taking all of his official visits in June, Las Vegas (Nevada) Arbor View three-star wide receiver David Washington took some time to weigh all of his options. He quickly narrowed his options down to two.

California and Utah each checked all of his boxes. Ultimately it was the Utes that won out as Washington announced his pledge to Utah Monday afternoon.

“From the beginning, Utah felt original,” Washington told On3. “It’s so family-based there with the players and the coaches. Utah has been recruiting me for a while and I feel comfortable with the coaches. From when I was there for the USC game last season to my official visit, it just feels good.”

Last October was the first time that Washington stepped foot on campus at Utah. He was there for the USC game and noted that the atmosphere for that game was unlike anything he had experienced up to that point.

As electric as that experience was, it wasn’t until he took his official visit that things really began to click for Washington. On top of playing football, he learned more about what the school would have to offer him off of the field.

Of all the factors that went into his decision, Washington said it was the academic side of things, the relationships at Utah and the Utes’ recent winning ways that helped him make his decision.

“The official visit was a big part of my decision because I learned a lot,” said Washington, the No. 428 player in the 2024 class. “It’s great from the football aspect at Utah, but I really like their Business program and Real Estate program on the academics side. That was very important for m and of course how close the staff is, how they relate to the players and how they win also made an impression on me.

“The overall environment at Utah felt nice and it’s something I want to be a part of.”
