Keba Keita, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound center, has committed to Utah for the class of 2022, he told On3 on Wednesday.

Today is also the first day of the regular signing period, allowing players to sign a National Letter of Intent. Keita did just that as he inked the dotted line and made it official with the Utes.

The big man arrived in the States from Mali two years ago and had a strong senior season at Mount Pleasant (Utah) Wasatch Academy.

Keita is the No. 105 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators on him much higher, ranking him 67th nationally.

The big man ultimately chose Utah over UNLV. He also received offers from Washington, Utah Valley, UC Santa Barbara, and others. He joins NBA Academy Latin Academy shooting guard Wilguens Exacte Jr., who also signed with the Utes on Wednesday.

Utah also recently landed point guard Mike Saunders Jr., a transfer from the University of Cincinnati.

Scouting Report

“The 6-foot-8, 225-pounder has put together an impressive senior campaign with improved IQ and skill. He passes the eye test with a strong frame, long arms, quick first jump for his size, body control and physicality. Keita has impressed this season with his ability to run the floor, be a more active screener and player on offense away from the ball and finishing over the left shoulder. Keita should develop into a quality big at the high-major level.” – Gerry Hamilton, On3’s National Recruiting Analyst
