4-star offensive tackle Spencer Fano commits to Utah
Provo (Utah) Timpview four-star offensive tackle Spencer Fano considered leaving his home state. Michigan and Oregon were contenders throughout his recruitment, hosting him in September and October for official visits. Clemson even made a late run at him by getting him on campus over Thanksgiving weekend.
But Fano’s heart was at home, and on Tuesday night he announced his commitment to Utah, choosing the Utes over the Ducks, Wolverines and Tigers, as well as BYU.

A 6-foot-4, 250-pound prospect, Fano is the No. 150 overall prospect and No. 11 offensive tackle in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Utah.
He is the Utes’ 17th commitment this cycle, joining a class headlined by fellow four-star offensive tackle Caleb Lomu, who pledged to Utah on Nov. 27.
Spencer Fano On3 Scouting Summary
The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Spencer Fano:
“Light-footed, technical offensive tackle. Always under control and a menace in the running and passing game. Plays with violence and has exceptional balance. Athleticism stands out when working in open space as a puller and when climbing to the second level. Comfortable in pass protection. Quality kick slide and footwork to live on an island at either tackle spot. Lacks ideal overall mass and strength throughout his frame.
“One of the few top offensive linemen nationally who does not have verified size or length. Biggest question mark for how soon he can see the field will be his ability to put on good weight. Must add power in order to play with necessary functional strength. Has a high upside due to his movement skills but a low floor as well if he can not get his weight up.”
