4-star LB Christian Thatcher commits to Utah
Las Vegas Arbor View four-star linebacker Christian Thatcher has committed to Utah.
He chose the Utes over USC, Oklahoma, Washington, Kansas and Colorado.
Thatcher is the No. 338 overall prospect and No. 32 LB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Nevada.
Kyle Whittingham and Co. have added a major blue-chip piece to Utah’s 2025 class. Thatcher took an official visit to Salt Lake City on June 8 and is now the highest-ranked prospect on the Utes’ pledge list this cycle.
More on Utah Recruiting
With Thatcher now in the fold, Utah has seven commitments this cycle — four of whom have joined the fold this month.
A pair of quarterbacks sit atop the class now alongside Thatcher. Pasadena (Calif.) Sierra Canyon three-star QB Wyatt Becker, a top-500 prospect and the No. 32 signal-caller in the On3 Industry Ranking, committed back in November. He was joined by Jenks (Okla.) three-star QB Shaker Reisig on Feb. 12.

Folsom (Calif.) three-star EDGE Nela Tupou also joined the class in February. Kansas City Oak Park three-star tight end Drew Clemens, Salt Lake City Skyline three-star defensive lineman Karson Kaufusi and Las Vegas Bishop Gorman three-star DL Sione Motuapuaka all pledged within a four-day span earlier this month.
After raking in a top-25 class in the 2023 cycle, the Utes finished with the No. 47 class in the nation last cycle, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The class was headlined by a pair of in-state teammates.
Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon four-star quarterback Isaac Wilson, the younger brother of current NFL QB Zach Wilson, signed with the Utes as the top-ranked player in the state and the No. 19 gunslinger in the nation.
Wilson was joined by his Corner Canyon teammate, four-star interior offensive lineman Isaiah Garcia. Both were top-300 recruits in the On3 Industry Ranking and the lone four-stars to ink with Utah last cycle.
