Diego Pavia injury update: Clark Lea elaborates on severity for Vanderbilt QB
Diego Pavia has been dealing with injuries over the last few weeks. With that, Clark Lea has assessed it and explained what Vanderbilt’s plans are for him over the final month of the season.
Lea spoke about Pavia’s health while with the media on Thursday. He noted that it wasn’t much more than the general issues that come over the course of a campaign.
“I think, Diego – it’s wear and tear,” said Lea.
On Wednesday, Pavia was designated as probable on the injury report for this weekend’s game against South Carolina. Sedrick Alexander got the same label ahead of the matchup. Neither will be limited over the course of the week either prior to kickoff.
“No, not anticipating any (restrictions),” said Lea. “:There’s nothing I anticipate on the front end holding them back or restricting them.”
Pavia has been one of the better quarterbacks in the country this season in how he has run the offense for the Commodores. He is 127-205 (62%) for 1,677 yards, 15 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He has also rushed for 563 yards on 146 carries with four more scores. That’s an average of just under 250 total yard per game for Vandy’s QB1.

However, his play style is also one that has had him pick up an injury or two over this fall. He specifically has had a pair from the last month their games against Kentucky and Texas with them still impacting him to some extent going into November.
Still, Pavia is still playing and managing it as he can. That has Lea keeping him in mind too before their next conference game against the Gamecocks.
“Game flow will dictate a lot,” said Lea. “You know, any time you’re playing in a physical game like Saturday is going to be, we’ll have to stick and move”
