After a judge granted a preliminary injunction in his lawsuit against the NCAA, Diego Pavia took to social media to react. He credited his lawyers before issuing a poignant message to the Vanderbilt fan base.

Judge William Campbell issued the ruling, which paves the way for another year of eligibility for Pavia. He started his career at the JUCO level for two years at the New Mexico Military Institute and played three years of FBS football – two at New Mexico State and one at Vanderbilt.

After the ruling came down, Pavia celebrated. He thanked his lawyers and also echoed his postgame interview after Vanderbilt’s signature win over Alabama this year.

“Vandy we f*ckin turnt,” Pavia wrote, along with a 100 emoji.

“My Lawyers are legit,” he added, along with a two-exclamation point emoji. “Ryan and Sal I appreciate yall! God is good, All the time.”

The timing of Campbell’s decision comes more than a week after the transfer portal opened. Pavia cited the portal window in the suit, citing the need for time to negotiate NIL deals.

In previously filed documents, Pavia wrote that he believed he could earn more than $1 million in 2025 if allowed another season. Sources told On3’s Pete Nakos that as of now, Pavia does not plan to enter the transfer portal.

“I would like to return to Vanderbilt next year,” Pavia said in court documents, “but need time to negotiate NIL deals before the transfer portal opens. If the transfer portal opens before I can complete negotiations with Anchor Impact (the NIL collective for Vanderbilt athletics), I will be trapped between abandoning those negotiations to enter the transfer portal or foregoing possible opportunities with other colleges who may recruit other quarterbacks out of the transfer portal before I can enter.”

Diego Pavia was impressive during the regular season season at Vanderbilt, throwing for 2,133 yards and 17 touchdowns while adding 716 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground. His most notable performance came against Alabama in that October win as he threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns to engineer one of the biggest upsets of the season.
