Jerry Stackhouse addresses ejection, calls out officiating in Vanderbilt loss to VCU
Jerry Stackhouse was ejected from Vanderbilt‘s game against VCU Wednesday night after disputing – to say the least – what he believed to be a missed call. Stackhouse was sent to the locker room for the final eight minutes, and the Commodores would end up losing the matchup 70-65.
After the game, Stackhouse addressed the media on the situation and bluntly told his side of the story.
“I thought tonight’s game was poorly officiated,” Stackhouse said, via The Tennessean. ” … All of the gesturing and everything that teams do, I mean, it’s just part of the game. Kids are going to make gestures during the course of game when they have big plays and felt like that was one that shouldn’t have been called on my guy that juncture in the game but I’m proud of our guys and how they fought and competed in a tough environment.”
The Commodores drop to 3-4 on the season following the loss and will host Wofford on Saturday.

WATCH: Jerry Stackhouse escorted off court by security following wild scene, ejection vs VCU
Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse was clearly unhappy with a technical foul against Liam Robbins Wednesday night against VCU. He let the officials know — and was escorted off the court by security as a result.
The foul occurred with 7:59 to play in the second half of Wednesday’s matchup in Richmond when Robbins appeared to tap his head after a monster dunk. The referees called a technical foul on him, and Stackhouse berated the officials during the commercial break and media timeout. It resulted in two technical fouls against him and his subsequent ejection.
At the time, VCU had a 54-51 lead over Vanderbilt, which entered the game with a 3-3 record to start the year. The Commodores are coming off a 67-59 win over Fresno State last week.
