Jerry Stackhouse discusses offensive gameplan without Lee Dort
The Vanderbilt Commodores’ basketball team had to face the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday without Lee Dort, their freshman forward. Dort has been ruled out for four weeks with a stress fracture in his foot. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks, according to a Vanderbilt team spokesperson. That left the Commodores with Quentin Millora-Brown and freshman Malik Dia as their only big men available for Saturday’s contest with the Bulldogs. Following his team’s 85-82 victory over Georgia, Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse discussed the ‘Dores’ offensive gameplan moving forward without Lee Dort.

Jerry Stackhouse discusses Vandy’s gameplan without Dort
“Yeah, I mean, we’ve got other ways that we’re going to be able to play. Still trying to get some baskets inside as well. I think Malik [Dia] was great for us tonight. I mean, he came in the second half, really set some screens. His ability to pop is really going to be able to, I think, cause some issues for some other teams to stretch them out a little more. We need paint points. So even if we’re not posting we’ve still got to get our feet in the paint and drive. And I thought we left a lot of opportunities in the first half by not gathering and playing off two feet by jumping off one,” Stackhouse said.

“And great opportunities– we’ve convert those most times if we just slow down a little bit. But for the most part, I thought we’re gonna find a way to get some points, we’ve just gotta continue to do it on the defensive end,” Stackhouse said.
Quentin Millora-Brown stepped up big in Dort’s absence for the Commodores. He stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, 11 rebounds, and two assists in the winning effort. The Commodores now sit at 10-9 overall for the 2022-2023 campaign.
