Jerry Stackhouse and his Vanderbilt team wrapped up its regular season Saturday with a 77-72 victory over Mississippi State. The win over the Commodores to 18-13 on the season and 11-7 in SEC play.

Those 11 conference wins are the most since the 2015-16 season for Vanderbilt. Their current .581 winning percentage is also the highest since the 2014-15 campaign.

The Commodores are playing some great basketball but Stackhouse believes they still have more room to grow.

“It’s part of what we envisioned it to be, but I think there’s still another level for it,” Stackhouse said. “We made some some good strides and some positive steps but I want to look all the way up to the top and see somebody that I can’t even see. I can’t even make out who they are and I think we have the ability to do that with not only a fan base but as we continue to grow our fan base, new people moving into Nashville every month and we want to make sure that we ingratiate them as well as we can to be a part of what we’re building here.”

During the week, Vanderbilt upset Kentucky on Senior Day for the Wildcats. But the win did come with a significant loss for the Commodores.

Liam Robbins injured his leg in the contest. The program announced the next day he would miss the remainder of the season.

He is the team leader in points at 15.0 per game and rebounds at 6.8.

Kentucky head coach John Calipari credited Vanderbilt after its win and said he believes the team will be able to adjust going forward without Robbins.

“He’s got them playing physical,” Calipari said after the game. “He’s got them playing in a way they have to play, but he will have to adjust again. They told me about the big guy Robbins. I feel sick to my stomach when they said it because the kids have been through so much.”
