Jerry Stackhouse says Vanderbilt will not eat Hibachi again after 57-point Alabama loss
Tuesday’s loss to Alabama is going to be a game Vanderbilt and Jerry Stackhouse will always remember even if the Commodores would much rather forget it.
The Crimson Tide wiped the floor with Vanderbilt in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to the tune of a dominant 101-44 victory.
After the game, Stackhouse said the team had a different routine heading into the game. Suffice to say, they will return to their old process next time.
“I thought we had a really, really good shootaround,” Stackhouse said. “Guys were live. We did break our routine a little bit from last night. The trainer’s was felt like we’ve had a lot of practices, a lot of games in quite a few days so felt like it might be good to take the night off. We took the night off and instead of going to the gym and getting some shots, we tried to a team event. Went to Hibachi Steakhouse. So I guess we won’t be going back to hibachi anytime soon. We just make sure that we try to get back to our routine next time out.”
Jerry Stackhouse’s team had no answers for Alabama
The first half was brutal for the Commodores, who made only five shots from the field on 15.2% shooting over the first 20 minutes. On the other side, Alabama made 57.7% of their attempts and enter halftime up 43-15.

The second half wasn’t much better as the Crimson Tide doubled Vanderbilt’s output, scoring 58 points while only giving up 29.
Alabama had five players in double figures, led by Brandon Miller‘s 22 points and eight rebounds.
For the Crimson Tide, the win came at a good time after they faltered against Oklahoma over the weekend.
“I thought they played much harder than they did on Saturday,” Alabama head coach Nate Oats said. “That’s what we were looking for. All 10 guys that have been in the rotation have given us enough.”
