Grayson Morgan is staying home.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound senior offensive tackle from Nashville (Tenn.) Montgomery Bell Academy announced Friday afternoon he had committed to Vanderbilt.

Morgan, an On3 Consensus three-star prospect, is the second in-state player to commit to Vanderbilt, joining Nashville CPA linebacker Langston Patterson. Patterson is ranked as a three-star also by the On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Morgan thanked his family and the Vanderbilt coaches for supporting him. He also sent a special note to a coach that has been working with him for quite some time.

“I want to especially thank coach Joe Davis, who has invested so much in me since first grade,” Morgan said.

Morgan also had scholarship offers from Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, UCF, Mississippi State, Maryland, Duke, Louisville and around 15 others.

Morgan took official visits to Kentucky and Maryland in June. He took an official visit to Vandy on Sept. 18.

Grayson Morgan’s commit a welcome one

It wasn’t a good week on the recruiting trail for Vanderbilt.

Oxford (Ala.) three-star athlete Miguel Mitchell decommitted from the Commodores on Wednesday night. He was the third decommitment this week after Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County three-star cornerback Caleb Coley and Pinson (Ala.) Pinson Valley three-star athlete B.J. Diakite.

During this time, Vandy did pick up a commitment from Warner Robins (Ga.) Warner Robins wide receiver Daveon Walker. But adding a nice local recruiting win for a quality player like Grayson Morgan is a much-needed boost.
