According to On3’s Joe Tipton, former TCU Horned Frogs guard Frankie Collins has committed to Vanderbilt. Collins just went through the NCAA transfer portal process for the third time in his career, making Vandy his fourth school. A nice pickup for head coach Mark Byington, adding an experienced guard.

Collins missed most of the 2023-2024 season due to a broken foot. He played in just nine games, all of which he started in. Playing over 30 minutes per game, Collins averaged 11.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 42.2% from the field.

MIchigan was where Collins started his college career. After one season in Ann Arbor saw him head out West to play for Arizona State. Bobby Hurley was Collins’ head coach for two years but the portal once again opened ahead of the 2023-2024 season.

Now, entering his final season of eligibility, Collins lands with Vanderbilt. Making a jump to the SEC will be a new challenge for him, hoping to find new heights in Nashville. Fresh off a season where the Commodores broke their NCAA Tournament drought, they will be looking for back-to-back appearances since 2017. Byington will be hoping Collins is a big piece of the puzzle.

Collins played high school football at Henderson (NV) Coronado, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 47 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Vanderbilt lands commitment from North Carolina’s Jalen Washington

Jalen Washington spent the last three seasons at a basketball blue blood in Chapel Hill. He’ll now, ahead of his senior season and for his final year of eligibility, be transferring into the SEC.

Washington has committed to transfer to Vanderbilt from the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. That comes per his representation at WEAVE in talking to On3’s Joe Tipton on Friday.

On3’s Jamie Shaw had noted two other programs in the Southeastern Conference would be interested in him in Mississippi State and Missouri. Washington also took a visit to Ohio State on April 1st.

Washington spent the past three seasons, and made 93 appearances with all 16 of his starts coming this past year, with North Carolina. As a Tar Heel, Washington averaged 4.2 points (60.8% FG) and 2.9 rebounds per game. That includes career-best stats as a junior this season at 5.7 points (59.4% FG), 4.2 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks.
