Utah quarterback transfer Nate Johnson commits to Vanderbilt

Utah quarterback transfer Nate Johnson has committed to Vanderbilt out of the NCAA transfer portal.

Johnson played a key role for the Utes this fall with starting quarterback Cam Rising missing the season due to injury, and he emerged as a bona fide playmaker. He’ll give the Commodores some instant firepower on offense.

The Utah quarterback threw for 499 yards and three touchdowns without an interception this season, splitting time with other quarterbacks on the roster. He was a true dual-threat quarterback, though, rushing for 235 yards and four touchdowns.

He’ll be able to provide the Commodores with some versatility in that regard.

Prior to enrolling at Utah, Nate Johnson was a four-star prospect and the No. 351 overall recruit in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

He was also ranked as the No. 20 quarterback in the class and the No. 25 overall player from the state of California, hailing from Clovis (CA) Clovis.
