Vanderbilt, Jerry Stackhouse land Top-150 recruit
Charlottesville (Va.) St. Anne’s-Belfield School three-star recruit Carter Lang tells On3 he has committed to Vanderbilt.
Lang, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound center, ultimately chose the Commodores over Stanford. He also received offers from Illinois, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, Columbia, SMU, and others.
The big man ranks as the No. 182 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators are much higher on Lang, ranking him 149th overall in the class.

Lang joins fellow three-star recruits, Isaiah West (No. 164) and JaQualon Roberts (No. 216).
Lang breaks down his commitment to Vanderbilt
“Vanderbilt provides me with an excellent education and an opportunity to play in the SEC,” Lang said to On3. “Coach Stackhouse runs his team similar to the NBA with all of the resources necessary to develop as a player. I also fit well into their system that utilizes two bigs and will allow me to make decisions with the ball.”
What type of player is Vanderbilt getting in Carter Lang?
“I’m a very physical player and pride myself on being one of the top rebounders in the country,” he says. “I also have the skills to score inside-out and create for my teammates.”
Lang has a message for Vanderbilt fans.
“Vanderbilt basketball has a bright future. It’s time to anchor down and get to work! Go ‘Dores!”
