The right-handed hitter redshirted in his true freshman season in 2023 and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining at his next stop. He played for Powell (TN) High School and was the No. 9 overall prospect and No. 2 catcher from Tennessee according to Perfect Game.
“Po really took advantage of his redshirt year by improving strength, fitness and his baseball skill set behind the plate,” coach Tim Corbin said on Vanderbilt’s website. “That work and investment paid great dividends for him this summer, as he was named player of the year in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Logan is an athletic catcher who shows good receiving and throwing skills. Offensively, he has strong powerful hands with the ability to drive the ball to all fields. I like his potential very much.”
Vanderbilt is coming off of a 38-23 season and bowed out in Regionals of the NCAA Tournament. Poteet is just the latest in a string of Commodore players to make the decision to enter the portal on the heels of a 2024 season that was certainly a disappointment for a storied Vandy program.

In his debut campaign with the Commodores in 2023, Horn totaled 15 innings pitched and a 3-0 record. He notched 17 strikeouts compared to 13 walks and concluded the year with a 5.40 ERA.
Horn played high school baseball at JSerra Catholic High School. He was the No. 109 overall player and No. 31 RHP in the 2022 recruiting cycle, per Perfect Game. Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin has praised Horn in the past.
“David is starting to make great progress on our staff,” Corbin said. “The physical stuff is undeniable, but the maturity, focus and desire to be good, is beginning to take shape. He shined in key moments on the mound last year as a freshman and built on them this summer in the NECBL.
“David is a low maintenance young man and a pleasure to coach. Mature, self-directed, personable, and competitive. Everything matters to him, as shown by his work in the classroom.”
