Vanderbilt infielder Camden Kozeal enters NCAA transfer portal
Vanderbilt infielder Camden Kozeal has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.
Kozeal departs from the Vanderbilt program following just one lone season with the team, making 43 game appearances in his freshman season where when healthy and available he was productive for the Commodores.
After making 148 plate appearances, Kozeal ended his freshman year with a .284 batting averaging. Racking up 42 hits, 24 runs, 28 RBIs, and five home runs on the season. Also posting a .349 on base percentage and a .439 slugging percentage in his first ever collegiate season.
Kozeal had numerous big time moments in his one year with Vandy, which started with a walk-off RBI single in the seventh game of his college career to help the Commodores defeat Gonzaga 4-3 in February.
He followed that by being named to the Astros Foundation Classic All-Tournament Team the next month. Recording eight hits, two doubles, a home run, and five RBIs during Vanderbilt’s three-game sweep of the competition in Houston. All in all stacking up 14 total hits during the entire March 4 week to lead all of Division I and be named the SEC Freshman of the Week
Kozeal attended Millard South High School in Omaha, Nebraska where he was named the 2023 Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year. Tabbed as an All-America and All-State selection by several publications, Kozeal was ranked as the No. 1 player in the state out of high school and the No. 30 infielder in the nation for the 2023 class according to Perfect Game.

“Cam comes us to with a mature offensive approach to hitting. It’s rare when you see young kids come into a program and own their process and intent…he does that,” Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin said. “He is very serious and competitive with whatever he does. He can be found at the facility early or late. He’s a physical kid with very good defensive infield skills. I like where he is right now, and I believe he will impact the team, sooner than later.”
Corbin was correct about Kozeal’s impact, but he will now to look to make it with another program ahead of his sophomore season.
