Vanderbilt infielder Matt Wolfe enters NCAA transfer portal
Vanderbilt baseball infielder Matt Wolfe has entered NCAA Transfer Portal following the end of the season, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Wolfe is just the latest in a string of Commodore players to make the decision to enter the portal on the heels of a 2024 season that was certainly a disappointment for a storied Vandy program and included a quick two-loss exit in the NCAA Tournament.

Wolfe is actually currently in action, playing for the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks in the New England Collegiate Baseball League while he figures out where he’ll next play college baseball. In past summers, he’s also played for the Kenosha Kingfish in the Northwoods League in 2023, as well as the Alexandria Aces in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League in 2022.
Here were head coach Tim Corbin’s comments on Wolfe included as part of his player bio on the Vanderbilt Athletics website:
“Matt is a steady, mentally tough young man who exhibits consistent human qualities in everything that he does. He continues to grow and improve as a player. Matt played all summer in the Northwoods League and showed improvement both offensively and defensively. Matt has infield versatility as well as a compact hitting approach at the plate. He is a team guy and very well-liked by his teammates. Everyone roots for Matt.”
