Vanderbilt LB Bryan Longwell trolls Auburn over pulling his offer on Christmas following win
Christmas came a little early for Vanderbilt linebacker Bryan Longwell as the Commodores beat Auburn on Saturday. Longwell got his revenge on the Tigers after they pulled their scholarship offer from him as a high school recruit on Christmas Day of 2022.
Vanderbilt walked into Jordan Hare Stadium to hand Auburn a 17-7 loss as Longwell showed that he didn’t let their rejection deter him to chasing his dream. He finished the game with four tackles and had a message for the Tigers on social media postgame.
“Merry Christmas!!” Longwell wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
It hasn’t been just the game Saturday that Longwell has proven Auburn wrong for passing him up, however. He’s been a pivotal piece for Vanderbilt from the moment he stepped on campus as a true freshman.
Longwell would go on to appear in all 12 games in 2023 as he recorded 36 tackles. He has only continued to grow during his second season with the Commodores.
The linebacker totaled a career-best 12 tackles in a contest against Missouri this season. He currently leads the team with 56 tackles in addition to 1.5 sacks.

Vanderbilt improved to 6-3 with the victory to achieve bowl eligibility while Auburn dropped to 3-6 on the year. It’s safe to say that Longwell is in a much better position now than he would have been had he attended Auburn.
Or perhaps the Tigers would be a better team than they are now had they not passed on the linebacker a couple of years ago. Either way, he made sure to let them know exactly what they missed out on.
Vanderbilt has a bye week upcoming but after that will next move on to play Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 16.
