Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood four-star quarterback Chris Parson received an offer from Vanderbilt on Friday. The 5-foot-11, 208 pound signal-caller was previously committed to Florida State before backing off his pledge a little over two weeks ago.

Parson is the No. 348 overall prospect and No. 19 quarterback in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 player in Tennessee.

Vanderbilt’s campus in Nashville is located less than 20 miles away from Parson’s high school. The Commodores do not have a quarterback committed in their 2023 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 49 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 11 in the SEC.

Chris Parson Recruiting Profile

Parson performed at the Elite 11 last month and was given the “Gamer” superlative by On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power.

“Chris Parson showed to be a high-energy competitor on more than one occasion at the Elite 11 Finals,” Power wrote. “The Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood signal caller won the hole shot competition on Tuesday night. While he struggled a bit during the pro day workout on Day 2, we saw a bounce back in 7-on-7. Parson turned in one of the better 7-on-7 sessions on Thursday, hitting 14 of 17 passes for three touchdowns. The Seminole commit elevated his game in competitive situations over the three days.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Mississippi State has a commanding lead to land Parson’s commitment at 75.2%. The team with the next-highest odds is SMU at 15.5%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Parson has an On3 NIL Valuation of $70K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

“Creative off-schedule playmaker with the ball in his hands.. Has a compact build, measuring just a hair over 6-feet, 200 pounds with a 9.5-inch hand. Ran a 4.78 electronically-timed 40-yard dash and jumped a 29.5-inch vertical during the spring camp circuit prior to his senior season. Extends plays with his legs outside of the pocket. Needs to develop more patience within the pocket, but when he is in open space he creates explosive plays. Backup quarterback as a freshman at Duncanville (Texas) High to current Utah QB Ja’Quinden Jackson until the state championship game where he lost his first start to fellow Texas powerhouse North Shore. Transferred to Red Oak (Texas) High for his sophomore season where he led the team to the state quarterfinals before transferring to Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood for his junior season. Threw for 2,309 yards and rushed for 1,007 while scoring 42 total touchdowns on the year during his junior campaign. Struggles to layer the football and throw with consistent ball placement. Has the physical tools to be a dynamic offensive weapon in the run and passing game. Needs to gain more consistency as a passer in order to jump to the next level as a quarterback.”
