Vanderbilt offers 2024 4-star QB Michael Van Buren
Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy four-star quarterback Michael Van Buren received an offer from Vanderbilt on Thursday night. He announced the news over social media.
Van Buren is the No. 67 overall prospect and No. 7 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Maryland.
The 5-foot-11.5, 185-pound signal-caller recently announced his top eight schools. They are Maryland, Miami, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Cincinnati, Oregon, Wisconsin and Oklahoma.
“With these eight schools, based on what I know already, I feel I fit in well with the offensive schemes,” Van Buren told On3’s Chad Simmons on Dec. 8. “I will do much more research on the schools, learn about the programs in depth on and off the field and continue to build relationships with the coaches.
“Learning more about the schools on my list is the next step for me. From there, I will work towards a decision. I know I will be committed before my senior year, but that is about it. It is time for me to focus on this eight and get to that point.”
Regarding Vanderbilt, the program currently has no commitments in its 2024 recruiting class. Meanwhile, the Commodores’ 2023 recruiting class is No. 52 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 14 in the SEC.

What to know about Van Buren’s recruitment
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Nittany Lions have a close lead for Van Buren’s commitment at 28.6%. He has visited State College three times.
RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.
It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
Van Buren has an On3 NIL Valuation of $95K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
