WATCH: Vanderbilt pitchers throw a combined no-hitter in win vs. Minnesota
The Vanderbilt Commodoresโ pitching staff threw a combined no-hitter against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Sunday night, propelling them to a 4-0 shutout victory. Four pitchers participated in the no-hitter for the Commodores: Greysen Carter, Sam Hliboki, Ryan Ginther, and Nick Maldonado all combined to throw 12 strikeouts and no hits. Hliboki threw the most strikeouts of the group, fanning eight batters in 3.2 innings of work.
Check out the final out of the game below, and the team celebrated the impressive accomplishment.
The Commodores also have one of the most prolific base runners in school history on their roster. On Sunday night, Vanderbiltโs Enrique Bradfield, Jr. stole his 100th base. One of the most decorated players in Vanderbilt baseball history, Bradfield was named a unanimous preseason first team All-American. He was also named preseason All-SEC first team. His 100 stolen bases are a Vandy baseball record, and heโll only continue to add to that as the season goes along. He was named a consensus All-American in 2022 after he stole 46 bases, hit five triples (leading the SEC), and blasted eight home runs.
The โDores finished 2-1 overall in the tournament, beating the Golden Gophers and Maryland, but losing to Nebraska.
Greysen Carter started the game for Vandy and went 3.5 innings, striking out three batters, but walking five of them. Hliboki replaced him on the mound and pitched brilliantly in 3 2/3 innings.
