Former James Madison guard Bryce Lindsay has committed to Villanova, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Lindsay transferred to James Madison last offseason after redshirting his true freshman year at Texas A&M.

Lindsay made 31 appearances and 13 starts for the Dukes this season. He averaged 13.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 29.6 minutes per game. The 6-foot-3 guard shot 45.5% from the field and 40.8% from beyond the arc.

Lindsay had his best performance of the season in James Madison’s win over UIC on Nov. 21. In the victory, Lindsay exploded for a career-high 28 points while shooting a stunning 10-11 from the floor.

For his excellent play this past season, Lindsay was named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year. Additionally, he was an All-Sun Belt Conference Third-Team selection.

Bryce Lindsay played high school basketball at IMG Academy (FL), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 187 overall player and No. 40 shooting guard in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Lindsay chose Villanova over Indiana, Florida, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Miami and USC. He’ll be far from the only fresh face for the Wildcats next season.

The Wildcats are revamping their roster this offseason after hiring new head coach Kevin Willard, who led Maryland to the Sweet Sixteen this past season. Now, he’ll look to lead Villanova to similar success.

“I am humbled, I am privileged,” Willard said. “This is an honor I never thought would occur. I want to say thank you to everyone in the Villanova community that has been so welcoming to my family. The last eight days have been like Christmas every day. It’s gotten better and better.

“I have to say thank you to the former players. It’s a brotherhood and culture that is unbelievably strong. You guys reaching out to me every day has made this transition unbelievable.”

Willard will have his work cut out for him. As of this report, Villanova has lost five players to the transfer portal. The Wildcats went 19-14 and 11-9 in conference play last season.
